The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) was introduced in 2018. The aim is to increase the protection of citizen’s data.

It did this by changing the way that organisations manage your data:

  • It standardised data protection laws
  • It made it easier for you to understand why and how your data is being used
  • It enforced stricter guidelines on how organisations manage the data they collect

The biggest change with GDPR is the change in your rights and giving you better access to the data that organisations hold about you.
