The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) were introduced in 2018. The aim was to increase the protection of your data.

It did this by changing the way that organisations manage personal data:

  • It standardised data protection laws
  • It made it easier for you to understand why and how their data is used
  • It introduced stricter guidelines on how organisations manage the data they collect about you

The biggest changes with GDPR are:

  • Changes in your rights
  • Giving you better access to the data organisations hold about them

Connexions Sandwell (acting on behalf of the Local Authority) has a legal responsibility under the Education & Skills Act 2008 to encourage, enable or assist the effective participation of young people into education or training.
